Audubon Society of Rhode Island invites public to bird banding event
BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — The Audubon Society of Rhode Island is inviting bird-lovers to join them in recording data about endangered birds.
The society said their bird banding events are a part of their record-keeping to help keep track of the movements of songbirds in the area on July 22, from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.
Attendees will be able to see Audubon officials gently capture, measure, tag, weigh and band each bird before they’re released at the Caratunk Wildlife Refuge in Seekonk, Massachusetts.
Officials will also discuss the history and migratory habits of the birds. Admission to the event is $10 for adult members and $5 for child members, and $14 for non-member adults and $7 for non-member children.
