Aug. 26 Marks Major Event for Women in the U.S.

August 26, marks the 90th anniversary of a major milestone for women in the United States.
90 years ago, women won the right to vote, helping pace the way for gender equality in the U.S.
A special gathering to mark the day's celebration was held in Newport. Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts was on hand, along with dozens of other female leaders across the state of Rhode Island.
The “Preservation Society of Newport County,” hosted the event, with the help of the “League of Woman Voters of Rhode Island,” among other organizations.
