BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE) – Team ‘Fraid Knots is getting in one last short ride before the big Pan-Mass Challenge.

But Garrett Ames and his teammates aren’t afraid of the challenge – just like their name suggests.

“The Eminem song “Not Afraid” was my son’s favorite song that kind of became his little theme song, “I’m not afraid,” Ames says.

When Ames’ son Charlie was in third grade, doctors discovered a brain tumor. Charlie is now cancer-free, but through his journey, ‘Fraid Knots was born.

The team will ride 192 miles – from Sturbridge, Massachusetts to Provincetown – and this year, the team is bigger than ever. And for Adam Hill, it’s his first. He is riding for his daughter, who was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 3 years old.

Whatever their reasons for riding, ‘Fraid Knots has certainly made its mark, raising $360,000 to date.
