BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Barrington police spent hours at a home on Haines Park Road on Tuesday night, but there was no one home.

Police received a call from a mental health clinician just before 9 p.m. who reported she had a woman on the suicide hotline that needed help.

She said the woman said she was in danger of hurting herself and that she had a gun and then hung up.

Officers got in touch with the woman, who said something similar to police, and hung up again.

Police also contacted the homeowners. They said they weren’t home and no one should have been in their house.

Officers left the house after they confirmed no one was there.

The department is investigating the origin of the call.
