PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior wide receiver Tory Doles registered a pair of touchdowns to lead the Brown Team over the White Team, 23-13, in the Brown football team’s annual Brown/White spring game on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Brown Stadium.

The white team struck first early in the opening quarter, when freshman Kyle Moreno threw a 20-yard pass to junior tight end Alexander Viox in the middle of the end zone, before the extra point hit the right post, for the lead, 6-0.

The Brown defense stepped up midway through the first quarter, as junior Jacob Supron recovered a fumble at the three-yard line in White territory, setting up junior Brian Strachans 3-yard run up the middle to push the Brown team in front, 7-6.

Brown padded its lead late in the first quarter when sophomore Grant Senne notched a 37-yard field goal to push the Brown team in front, 10-6.

In the second quarter, the Brown team scored its second touchdown of the contest when sophomore Seth Rosenbauer tossed a 31-yard pass to sophomore wide out Troy Doles for the 10-point advantage.

Brown put together an impressive drive to close out the opening half, capped with an exciting halfback touchdown pass with 1:05 remaining, as Doles hit quarterback Marcus Fuller in the left of the end zone to give the Brown team the lead at halftime, 23-6.

After a scoreless third quarter, the white team responded with a touchdown late in the fourth, as junior Nicholas Lawley lofted a 3-yard touchdown pass to Alexander Jette, trimming the deficit to ten, 23-13.

The white team made a final march down the field in the closing seconds of the contest, but Michael Ramirez intercepted Lawley’s pass to seal the victory for the Brown squad.

The Bears will open the 2014 season on Saturday, Sept. 20 when they visit Georgetown. Brown’s first home game is on Saturday Sept. 27 against Ivy rival Harvard at 6 p.m.
