Bicyclist dies after getting hit by car in Providence

The victim was identified by police on Wednesday.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Providence police say a man died after getting struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Friday night.

On Wednesday, the victim was identified as 28-year-old Francisco Sosa of Providence.

According to police, Sosa was struck in the City’s Silver Lake neighborhood around 11:30 p.m.

The crash happened on the corner of Webster Avenue and Plainfield Street.

Investigators told ABC6 the driver remained at the scene of the crash until police arrived, and has not been charged.

The bicyclist was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital where he  was pronounced dead.

The Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.
