Biden to visit Somerset Wednesday at Brayton Point

SOMERSET, Mass. (WLNE) — President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Massachusetts on Wednesday.

The White House confirmed to ABC 6 News that the president will be heading to Somerset to discuss ongoing climate issues.

The president will speak at the Brayton Point power plant site in the afternoon after arriving at Rhode Island TF Green Airport in Warwick.

In a release Tuesday, the White House said the president will talk about “tackling the climate crisis and seizing the opportunity of a clean energy future to create jobs and lower costs for families.”

ABC 6 News has confirmed Congressman Jake Auchincloss will also be joining Biden at the event.

“We’re excited to welcome President Biden and his administration to the town of Somerset tomorrow,” said Michael Gallagher, acting town manager.

Gallagher said residents should expect significant road closures, detours, and traffic delays throughout the day.

The United States Secret Service also announced a “No Drone Zone” and drone pilots can get more details from the FAA mobile application B4UFLY.

More details will be provided closer to Biden’s arrival.
