Big Brothers Big Sisters’ donation bins stuffed with trash
RHODE ISLAND (WLNE) – The non-profit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island is having a problem with people dumping trash in its donations bins.
The donation bins set up across the state are for cloth donations only. Those cloth donations should be bagged before being dropped in the bins.
The non-profit is seeing an increase in people dumping trash and broken household items in and around the bins.
“It costs us roughly $75-$100 every time someone dumps something like a mattress, or a grill, or a broken piece of furniture,” said George Marley of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
If you want to donate household items, you’re asked to wrap and box the item and bring it to the Big Brothers Big Sisters donation center at 1540 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston, R.I.
