Ortiz says Boston is `place I want to be'
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) _ David Ortiz wants to finish his career with the Boston Red Sox.
The World Series MVP said at a news conference Monday that staying in Boston for such a lengthy period is “a huge accomplishment.''
Due $15 million this year, Ortiz agreed Sunday to a new deal that calls for a $16 million salary in 2015 and could be worth up to $48 million over three years.
The contract includes a $10 million club option for 2016 that could escalate to $16 million and become guaranteed, and a club option for 2017, also at $10 million to $16 million.
