The Senate Judiciary Committee will hear a bill that would allow foreign nationals to obtain drivers licenses in Rhode Island.

The bill sponsored by Senator Frank Ciccone III will be heard at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. Governor Lincoln Chafee has in the past supported legislation that would allow illegal immigrants to obtain drivers licenses.

On Sunday night a 6-year-old boy was killed in Providence when he was hit by a truck driven by a man who is in the country illegally and did not have a valid driver's license.
