Bill to rename T.F. Green Airport heads to Senate floor for a full vote

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – A bill that would rename T.F. Green Airport in Warwick to “Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport” is moving ahead.

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance the legislation Thursday night to the full state senate for a vote.

The legislation is supported by the Rhode Island Airport Corporation.

A spokesperson for the group says the name change would help tourism and make the airport more attractive to other airlines.

Renaming Rhode Island’s main airport has been up for debate since 2018.

A vote on the name change will take place on Tuesday, April 27, according to a spokesperson for the Rhode Island Senate.
