Blizzard clean-up continues across Southern New England

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The clean-up continues from the Blizzard of 2022!

And if you’ve driven around the city- it’s no secret some roads need more help than others.

“A lot of people are getting stuck on roads that are semi-vertical.” Steve Alves explains to ABC6, “A lot of the streets aren’t plowed. The side streets mainly.”

Mayor Jorge Elorza says it’s not for lack of trying. Since the storm hit about 45 plows have been out each day cleaning off and salting the roads, and will continue to be out as long as they are needed.

Rain is expected later this week, which could cause more issues on the roads if the storm drains are covered. Officials are asking people to try and clear them to prevent flooding.

“I really hope we do not get the rain because where is it going to go?” Chip Smith questions, “It’s going to flood and I do not know, it’s going to be a big mess.”
