Block Island Ferry updates schedule after fire on island

NEW SHOREHAM, R.I. (WLNE) — The Block Island Ferry updated its service schedule after the large fire at Harborside Inn.

A service alert on the ferry’s website said that the Pt. Judith High speed ferry will resume service at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

Traditional ferries are running a revised schedule.

Departures from Pt. Judith are rescheduled as follows:

  • The 10:30 a.m. scheduled ferry will now depart at 12 p.m.
  • The 12 p.m. scheduled ferry will now depart at 2 p.m.
  • The 1:30 p.m. scheduled ferry will now depart at 3 p.m.
  • The 4:15 p.m. scheduled ferry will now depart at 4 p.m.
  • The 5:30 p.m. scheduled ferry will now depart at 6 p.m.
  • The 6:45 p.m. scheduled ferry will now depart at 7 p.m.
  • The 8 p.m. scheduled ferry will depart at its normal time.

Departures from Block Island are rescheduled as follows:

  • The 11:30 a.m. scheduled ferry will depart at 1 p.m.
  • The 12:45 p.m. scheduled ferry will depart at 2 p.m.
  • The 3 p.m. scheduled ferry will depart at 4 p.m.
  • The 5 p.m. scheduled ferry will depart at its normal time.
  • The 6:15 p.m. scheduled ferry will depart at 6 p.m.
  • The 7:30 p.m. scheduled ferry will depart at its normal time.
  • The 8:30 p.m. scheduled ferry will depart at its normal time.

In addition, all Newport high speed ferry departures have been cancelled.

The ferry also said that online ticket holders can request a full refund by emailing info@blockislandferry.com.

Same day round-trip tickets will be automatically refunded.

The ferry transported emergency services to the island while the island’s fire department fought the blaze.
