BLOCK ISLAND, R.I. (WLNE) – The New Shoreham Town Council voted unanimously Monday night to recommend, not require, masks indoors.

Visitors will be asked to wear a mask regardless of their vaccination status, in accordance with the latest CDC recommendations.

During the meeting, the Council also asked for patrons in restaurants to mask up, except when they are eating.

Monday night’s decision comes after the vote was rescheduled from Friday, and amid an uptick in cases on the island.
