Blue Devils Add South Kingstown’s Murphy To Recruiting class

Duke adds F Murphy to recruiting class

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) – Alex Murphy is finishing high school early
and will play this coming season at Duke.
The school on Thursday announced that 6-foot-8 Murphy signed a
letter-of-intent to become the fifth member of the Blue Devils'
incoming recruiting class.
Murphy had been on track to play his senior season at a
Massachusetts high school in 2011-12 but opted to graduate early
and enroll at Duke. The small forward from South Kingstown, R.I.,
averaged 21 points as a high school junior.
His older brother Erik plays at Florida, and his father spent
four seasons in the NBA in the 1980s with Washington and the Los
Angeles Clippers.
He joins a recruiting class that ranks as one of the nation's
best, led by guard Austin Rivers – the son of Boston Celtics coach
Doc Rivers.
