PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Federal Hill restaurant is closed pending a hearing over an incident that happened on Mother’s Day.

The Providence Board of Licenses closed VL Restaurant and Lounge on Atwells Avenue after a reported disturbance involving adults.

“We had a beautiful and very busy day on Federal Hill for Mother’s Day,” said president of the Federal Hill Commerce Association, Rick Simone. “The incident that occurred is not indicative of the style of our businesses on the hill. We believe the ownership of this new business is aware of what took place and they will take any corrective measures necessary. The fact that this incident involved individuals that were adults in their 30s and 40s is very disappointing.”

The Board is set to meet on Wednesday morning.

ABC 6 News reached out to Providence police on the incident but has yet to hear back.
