Search Continues For Missing Pregnant Teen

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – A body found in Florida is presumed to be that of missing Mashpee teen Jalajhia Finklea, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.

Florida law enforcement officials, acting off information from Massachusetts State Police and New Bedford Police detectives, discovered a deceased female body in a field near Route 95 in Fellsmere, Florida, according to the statement.

A positive identification has yet to be made and will be dependent on an autopsy to be conducted in Florida, Quinn said.

Finklea was last seen getting into a rental car in New Bedford that investigators said had been rented to Luis Zaragoza at Logan Airport in Boston. Her cellphone was later found off Route 140 in New Bedford.

Despite a search spanning several states, Finklea remained missing.

Zaragoza was killed in a shootout with law enforcement officials in Crestview, Florida on Nov. 5.

It was believed that Finklea was pregnant at the time of her disappearance.
