Boston serial rape suspect faces new charges, additional bail

BOSTON (WLNE) — The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that a man charged for multiple rapes dating 15 years ago is facing new charges as well as additional bail.

According to the DA, Matthew Nilo now faces a total of 12 charges including aggravated rape and kidnapping. He was previously charged with three counts of aggravated rape, two counts of kidnapping one count of assault with intent to rape and one count of indecent assault and battery.

Officials said Nilo was connected to the crimes through DNA analysis and was arrested in New Jersey back in May.

He was held on $50,000 bail on the new charges after posting $500,000 on his previous charges.

Nilo, who was a well known lawyer in Manhattan, is expected to return to court in September.
