Boy, 7, seriously injured after falling from ski lift

CANTON, Mass. (WLNE) – Members of the Canton Fire Department rescued a child who fell 35 feet off of a ski lift on Monday.

According to Chief Charles Doody, firefighters responded to the Blue Hill Ski Area after a report that a 7-year-old Rockland boy fell from a ski lift.

Canton Fire paramedics arrived on scene and met with ski patrol members who removed the boy from where he fell.

The boy was transported by helicopter to Boston Children’s Hospital. Authorities said the 7-year-old’s injuries are serious, but not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesperson from the Massachusetts State Police Department said the child was with family at the ski area at the time of the incident.

State Police said they notified the State Office of Public Safety and Inspections about the incident, which is under investigation.
