Boy drowns at Beavertail State Park, DEM says

JAMESTOWN, R.I (WLNE) – The Department of Environmental Management confirmed on Monday, that a 14-year-old boy drowned after falling into the water at Beavertail State Park.

According to the DEM, the boy was fishing with his father and brother when he slipped on the rocks and fell in the water.

The boy’s father and two good samaritans went into the water to retrieve him, and performed CPR until the fire department arrived.

The department EMS arrived at 6:25 PM, and the boy was transported to Newport Hospital where he was pronounced dead after arrival.

The boy is identified as Daniel Carrascoza, of Providence.
