Braves Come Back to Beat PawSox

The Gwinnett Braves scored 4 times in the seventh and eighth innings on Tuesday night to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox 5-1. The loss snaps a three game winning streak for the PawSox. Pawtucket ran into a buzzsaw named Mike Minor. Minor is the third ranked prospect in the Atlanta organization. Minor allowed a leadoff home run to Tony Thomas in the first inning and then the lefty shut the Sox down, giving up three more hits in seven innings. Minor struck out 8 batters to improve to 2-1 for Gwinnett. Hector Luna, Josh Reddick and Luis Exposito each had a hit. Exposito, the PawSox catcher, threw out three opposing base runners.

Starter Matt Fox was very good in his 4 and two thirds innings of work. Fox scattered 5 hits, surrendering one run, striking out 3. Tony Pena allowed a single run in the seventh and as a result falls to 1-2 with the loss. Kris Johnson allowed 3 runs in a third of an inning.

The series continues on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. Rodrigo Lopez (4-0, 2.11) will face Kyle Weiland (2-3, 4.34).
