NEWPORT – A local woman donned a wedding dress to run the Newport 10 Miler, on the morning of her wedding!

Linda Bachand wore the running frock just hours before she said “I do.” She runs every weekend, so doing the race was a no-brainer. “We thought: it’s close, it’s great, we’ll have great scenery and do a quick ten miles, then go and get ready,” she said.

Several of her friends joined her as a “wedding posse,” as well as a stand-in groom, since her now-husband, Seann Jackson, isn’t one for races.

This isn’t the first time Bachand dressed up for a race. She has worn countless costumes to dozens of races – and even marathons! To date, she has run in 55 full marathons and 90 half marathons.

Bachand and Jackson also plan on running during their honeymoon.
