Bristol holds annual 4th of July Pageant
"It's such an honor to be able to be a part of this after such a hard year," Mehta said.
BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE)- ‘America’s most patriotic town’ geared up for their 2021 Fourth of July celebration Saturday, holding their annual Miss and Little Miss Fourth of July Pageant.
The Town of Bristol has held the pageant since 1988, until it was cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020.
“This has been like the light at the end of the tunnel, and we’ve all been looking forward to it,” 1st runner up Adidi Mehta told ABC6.
Women from Bristol between the ages of sixteen to twenty years old and seven to nine years old took part in the event.
Contestants said it’s always been an honor to be picked for the pageant, but even more so this year as the pandemic nears its end.
“It’s such an honor to be able to be a part of this after such a hard year,” Mehta said.
Crowned by the 2019 Little Miss and Miss 4th of July, two new winners stepped into the spotlight.
Victoria Travassos was named Miss 4th of July and Eden Sweeney was named Little Miss 4th of July.
The Bristol 4th of July parade is scheduled for July 5.
