Bristol K-9, Brody, falls asleep during swearing in ceremony

BRISTOL, R.I (WLNE) – Bristol K-9, Brody was sworn in as the town’s new comfort dog, but he wasn’t awake for the ceremony.

School Resource Officer, Keith Medeiros took the Oath of Office on behalf of the labrador puppy as he took a nap on the chief’s desk.

Brody was given to the department from Boonefield Labradors, a breeder from Southern New Hampshire, just over the Massachusetts line.

Bristol Police Chief, Kevin Lynch wanted to add a K-9 to the department as the town’s new chief, and Brody will be involved in the town’s school activities.

“When I finished my interview for the town of Bristol I told them that I planned on making a difference in this community, and this (Brody) is a very good example of making a difference for the town of Bristol,” said Lynch.

Lynch said Medeiros and Brody are excited to meet everybody at the shool’s and he hopes this gives children something to look forward to when they return.

According to Lynch, Brody is “going to be the highlight, and a superstar of the town of Bristol”, just as soon as he wakes up.
