Bristol Man Arrested for Early Morning Cranston Stabbing

A Bristol man is under arrest, after he stabbed a Cranston woman early Saturday morning.

Cranston Police responded to 221 Garden Street, where they found 21-year-old Andrea Wilmot laying in her driveway suffering from several stab wounds. Rescue crews took her to Rhode Island Hospital. Police say her injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Christopher Amaral, a co-worker that Wilmot had a previous relationship with, was arrested for the stabbing. According to Police, Amaral had been calling Wilmot throughout the night, and then approached her as she returned home. According to Wilmot, the two were talking in the driveway, when she went to say goodbye, Amaral grabbed her and stabbed her 9 times.

Amaral fled the scene, and was arrested by Bristol Police on Route 136. Bristol Police turned Amaral over to the Cranston Police Department, where he will be presented to a bail commissioner Saturday.
