BRISTOL, Mass. (WLNE) – An interim Superintendent has been hired for the troubled Bristol-Warren Regional School District.

Dr. Jonathan Brice will be stepping in to replace former Superintendent Dr. Mario Andrade, who resigned in June amid concerns about safety and student behavior at schools in the district.

Brice has over 25 years of experience as a teacher, school administrator and executive in districts across Maryland, Florida, and Delaware.  He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of the Bristol Warren Regional School District,” said the superintendent in a statement. “My initial focus will be on listening and learning about BWRSD, and collaborating and identifying measurable outcomes for the 2019-2020 school year.”

Brice will officially join the school district on July 22.
