Brown QB Aidan Gilman Named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week

Brown University Press Release

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a sensational effort in leading Brown to a 34-31 victory over previously unbeaten Penn on Saturday, Brown senior quarterback Aidan Gilman has been named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Coming on in relief to begin the second quarter, Gilman was instrumental in leading Brown to its first home Ivy League victory since 2016. Gilman finished the remainder of the game going 22-for-38 for 245 yards and two touchdowns, all career-highs. He capped the day with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Allen Smith, which proved to be the game-winner with 1:19 remaining in the game.

Gilman led Brown to scores on his first two drives, including a 20-yard touchdown pass to Graham Walker early in the second quarter, and a field goal that helped the Bears jump out to a 24-7 lead. He completed 11 of his first 17 passes, good for 109 yards. All of this came against a Penn defense that entered the game allowing only 14.33 points and 199.8 passing yards per game.

He also helped Brown score points on all six of their red zone trips. On Brown’s game-winning drive, he was 4-for-6 for 48 yards on a nine-play, 69-yard drive that spanned 1:56.

The Bears will return to action this Saturday with a trip to Yale. Kickoff is set for noon on NESN and ESPN+.
