Brown University to stagger the return of students to campus this fall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Brown University announced Tuesday that the school will stagger the return of students to its Providence campus.

The school says most of its undergraduate students will return to campus by late September.

The university’s statement revealed that all undergraduate classes will be taught remotely starting on September 9. In-person classes will begin October 5 under modified instruction.

Christina H. Paxson, Brown University President said, “I want nothing more than to see all of our students back on campus. However, we must make decisions that prioritize the health and safety of the Brown community as well as the greater Providence community. I recognize that this year will be unlike any other, but we remained committed to delivering Brown’s world-class education.”

This staggered approach does not apply to medical and graduate students. The school says that many of these students are in Providence already or will make their return to campus before Labor Day.
