Bruins Recall Ten Players From Providence

BRUINS MAKE PLAYOFF RECALLS FROM PROVIDENCE

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced
today that the club has recalled 10 players from the Providence Bruins
of the American Hockey League.

Goalies Michael Hutchinson and Anton Khudobin, forwards Jamie Arniel,
Jordan Caron, Zach Hamill, Lane MacDermid, and Trent Whitfield, and
defensemen Yury Alexandrov, Matt Bartkowski and Steven Kampfer all have
been recalled from Providence. Bartkowski, Kampfer and Khudobin will
report to Boston while the other players will remain in Providence to
train with the P-Bruins coaching staff.

Yury Alexandrov appeared in 66 games this season for Providence with
6-13=19 totals. He signed an entry level contract with Boston on May 30,
2010 after being drafted by the Bruins in the second round (37th
overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He had played the previous five
seasons for his hometown team, Severstal Cherepovets, of the Kontinental
Hockey League in Russia.

Defenseman Matt Bartkowski made his NHL debut this season against the
Pittsburgh Penguins on January 10. The 6'1″, 203-lb native of
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania appeared in six NHL games this season, with no
points and 6 PIM. The 22-year-old led P-Bruins defensemen in scoring
with 5-18=23 totals in 69 games, and also had 42 PIM. He was acquired by
the Bruins with Dennis Seidenberg in a March 2010 trade with the Florida
Panthers in exchange for Byron Bitz, Craig Weller and Tampa Bay's 2010
second-round pick (Alexander Petrovic). He was originally drafted by the
Panthers in the seventh round (190th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry
Draft.

Steven Kampfer, a 5'11″, 197-lb defenseman Ann Arbor, Michigan, has
appeared in 38 games this season with Boston. He has 5-5=10 totals with
12 PIM since his first NHL call-up on December 8, 2010. He was recently
assigned to Providence on April 6.

In 22 AHL games with Providence, the 22-year-old Kampfer has 3-13=16
totals and 12 PIM. Originally drafted in the fourth round (93rd overall)
of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks, Kampfer was acquired
by the Bruins in a March 2010 trade with the Ducks in exchange for a
fourth round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (Justin Shugg). Before
turning pro, Kampfer played four seasons at the University of Michigan,
appearing in 147 games with 7-53=60 totals and 134 PIM.

Anton Khudobin, a 5'11″, 203-lb goaltender from of Ust-Kamenogorsk,
Kazakhstan, appeared in 50 games for the AHL's Houston Aeros and
Providence Bruins, with a 28-16-2 record, a GAA of 2.52 and a .914 save
percentage. The 24-year-old has played in four NHL games this season
with Minnesota, having a record of 2-1-0, a 1.59 GAA and a save
percentage of .940. He recorded his first career NHL shutout when he
made 32 saves in a 4-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks on January 16, and
he had two AHL shutouts this year.

Originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the seventh round (206th
overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Khudobin has appeared in six
career NHL games, all with Minnesota. He has a 4-1-0 record, a 1.39 GAA
and a .955 save percentage with one shutout. He was acquired by the
Bruins in a trade on February 28 with the Minnesota Wild, in exchange
for Providence Bruins defenseman Jeff Penner and the restricted free
agent (RFA) rights to forward Mikko Lehtonen.

Goaltender Michael Hutchinson has split his first professional season
this year between the Providence Bruins and Reading Royals (ECHL). In
Providence, where he finished the season, the 21-year-old appeared in 28
games earning a 13-10-1 record with 3.13 GAA and .904 SV%. In Reading,
he appeared in 18 games with a 9-5-4 record, 2.86 GAA and .918 SV%. The
6'3″, 192-lb native of Barrie, Ontario was originally drafted by the
Bruins in the third round (77th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Jamie Arniel made his NHL debut on November 28, 2010 against the Atlanta
Thrashe
rs before being sent back to Providence on November 29. That hbeen the 21-year-old forward's only NHL appearance, and he has yet to
record his first NHL point. The 5'11″, 193-lb native of Kingston,
Ontario led the P-Bruins in scoring this year with 23-27=50 totals and
26 PIM in 78 games. He was originally drafted by the Bruins in the
fourth round (97th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Jordan Caron began this season with the Boston Bruins before being sent
to Providence on December 6. In 23 NHL games, the 20-year-old forward
has 3-4=7 totals and 6 PIM. The 6'2″, 202-lb native of Sayabec, Quebec
scored his first NHL goal against the New Jersey Devils on October 16, a
4-1 Boston win. In 47 AHL games this season, Caron had 12-16=28 totals
and 16 PIM. He was originally drafted by the Bruins in the first round
(25th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Zach Hamill led the P-Bruins in assists this season with 34. The
22-year-old forward three games with Boston after being recalled on
February 4, and notched an assist before being assigned to Providence on
February 13. The 5'11″, 180-lb native of Vancouver, British Columbia
played in 68 AHL games this season with 9-34=43 totals and 66 PIM. He
was originally drafted by the Bruins in the first round (8th overall) of
the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Lane MacDermid appeared in 78 games for Providence this season, with
7-12=19 totals and 158 PIM. The 20-year-old forward's 20 fighting majors
were second on the P-Bruins, behind only Nathan McIver (26). The 6'3″,
211-lb native of Hartford, Connecticut has yet to make his NHL debut. He
was originally drafted by the Bruins in the fourth round (112th overall)
of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Trent Whitfield was the AHL Player of the Month for March, accumulating
12-10=22 totals in 13 games. On the season, the forward appeared in 45
games with 18-18=36 totals and 42 PIM. The 33-year-old has appeared in
714 career AHL games, with 231-336=567 totals and 507 PIM. He has
appeared in 193 career NHL games with the Washington Capitals, St. Louis
Blues, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins with 11-18=29 totals and 104
PIM. The 5'11″, 204-lb native of Alameda, Saskatchewan was signed by the
Bruins as a free agent in July 2009, and was originally drafted by the
Bruins in the fourth round (100th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
