A Bryant University student was killed in an early morning car crash on Physical Road, a small back road on the Bryant University Campus.

Five Bryant freshman were traveling down the road around 1 a.m. on Thursday morning when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

All five were transported to Rhode Island hospital with injuries. One had to be transported via “life flight” from the scene because of the extent of his injuries.

Four of the students were treated and released. The fifth student passed away from his injuries early Thursday morning.

Bryant University tweeted, “Bryant community today mourns the death of Christiano Barbosa, Class of 2017. Our kindest thoughts go to Christiano's family and friends.”

#RIPChristiano is trending among the Bryant University community.
