Bullock Paces PC Men’s Basketball In Exhibition Win Over Stonehill

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s basketball team defeated Stonehill, 92-76, in exhibition play on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I. The Friars improved to 68-39 all-time in exhibition play with the win.

The first half closed with a 10-point Friar-lead, 50-40. Sophomore Rodney Bullock (Hampton, Va.) opened up the first half by scoring a team-high 18 of the Friars’ points. Stonehill grabbed the lead twice during the first half with the largest lead of five points at the 14:15 mark, 14-9. 

The Friars maintained the lead for the entire second half, with the largest lead of 19 points coming with 30 seconds left, 92-73. The Skyhawks got within three points (65-62) with 8:24 left in the game after Adam Bramanti hit a three pointer.

For the game, Bullock and Dunn each registered double-doubles. Bullock scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while junior Kris Dunn (New London, Conn.) scored 15 points and registered 12 assists. Sophomore Ben Bentil (Wilmington, Del.) added 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Providence. The Friars held the advantage in scoring in paint (52-20) and on second chances (21-11), while shooting 35-of-65 (53.8%) from the floor.

Stonehill’s Ryan Logan and Pierce Cumpstone led the Skyhawks with 14 points each. Cumpstone had a game-high 14 rebounds for Stonehill. 

The Friars will return to action for their season opener versus Harvard at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.
