SEEKONK, Mass. (WLNE) – A Maine businessman is seeking to lease out a former movie theater in Seekonk for use as a recreational marijuana business.

Businessman Jamie Crumb and a group of investors are seeking to lease the former Showcase Cinema building at 870 Fall River Avenue in Seekonk in order to grow, process, and sell medical and recreational marijuana.

Crumb predicts the operation could provide the Town of Seekonk with at least $6 million dollars in tax revenue yearly and offer the town 60 or more new local jobs.

In addition, the group has proposed several storefront locations in the Boston metropolitan area to sell to the public.

An informational meeting will be held on January 30th at the Seekonk Senior Center.

All residents are welcome to attend.
