Multiple events in Providence this weekend means long lines, traffic, and large crowds of people. If you’re planning to come to the city, remember the old saying, "patience is a virtue."

"There probably will be a little bit of a longer commute time into the city, so plan an extra five to fifteen minutes," says Kristen Adamo, Vice President of Marketing of the Providence/Warwick Convention Visitors Bureau.

Providence Police say that due to the large crowds, each event will have it’s own detail. Rhode Island Comic Con, alone, is expecting 60,000 people over the next three days, but staff and volunteers began planning well in advance for visitors.

"We work all year round to plan this event. It does take a lot of work but we are all invested in that, and that’s why we are here, because we love it and we do it for the fans," says Susan Soares, PR Manager for RI Comic Con.

As far as parking goes, street spots and parking garages near the downtown area may fill up fast. The Convention Visitors Bureau suggests looking into other means of transportation, as well.

"There’s also public transportation and companies like Uber that can offer rides," adds Adamo.
