Car crashes into Providence sushi restaurant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Owners of a popular sushi restaurant in Providence are left picking up the pieces after a suspected drunk driver barreled into their business early Tuesday morning, then took off.

That car crashed into Yoo Sushi on Douglas Avenue around 2AM Tuesday, leaving a massive hole in the corner of the building. Police later found the car abandoned near the Foxy Lady nightclub, and two men fleeing on foot.

Police caught up with both men, ultimately arresting 28-year-old Jordan DeCosta and charging him with DUI.

Neighbors say speeding and reckless driving is a major problem in that area, and would like to see stepped-up police patrols, especially at night.
