PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Firefighters are currently investigating the cause of a car fire that spread to a Providence home, early Saturday morning.

The fire department said they received a call to 11 Jasper street for a vehicle fire around 4:00 a.m

Officials say the fire started on a car in the driveway, that quickly spread to the side of the home, melting the vinyl siding.

According to Chief Robert, the red cross was called to help the displaced family of five.

The chief also says the home is currently unlivable at this time with smoke and water damage, and the car is a “total loss.”
