CDC: Providence County remains ‘high’ for COVID-19 transmission
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The CDC announced Friday that Providence County remains in the “high” risk category for COVID-19 transmission.
The report shows Bristol County, Kent County, Newport County and Washington county are all at the “medium” level given the latest data.
Providence County remains in the “high” risk category with the highest number of cases and hospitalizations in the state.
The CDC offered prevention measures for Rhode Islanders to consider amidst rising variant case numbers:
- Stay up to date on vaccinations
- Ventilate indoor spaces as well as possible
- Avoid contact with people who have suspected or confirmed COVID-19
- Follow recommendations for isolation and exposures
The CDC has also recommended Rhode Islanders in “medium” risk counties to consider masking in crowded, indoor public places.
