Central Falls given authority to build and repair schools through new legislation

Central Falls

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Governor Dan McKee ceremoniously signed legislation Monday morning authorizing the City to build and repair schools.

The bill allows the city to issue bonds or notes not exceeding 5.76 million for the improvement, repair, and construction of schools.

“This legislation is an absolutely vital chapter in the Central Falls comeback story,” said Representative Joshua Giraldo (D-Dist. 56, Central Falls). “School buildings in the city are in dire need of repair and renovation. The ability of students to effectively learn in those facilities has been seriously compromised, and it has had a negative impact on the health and welfare of the city’s children.”

The bill signing took place at Central Falls High School.
