Charlestown man with 3 past convictions faces new child pornography charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Charlestown man who has been convicted on child pornography charges three times was indicted by a federal grand jury on new and unrelated charges, prosecutors said Monday.
A federal grand jury returned an indictment charging 37-year-old Patrick Beattie with two counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
Court documents show that Beattie violated the terms of his state probation in connection to previous child pornography convictions by having a smartphone.
Authorities found the phone during an unannounced home visit on Feb. 10 and reportedly found images of child pornography.
Beattie was arraigned in federal court on Friday.
Court documents show that Beattie has had three prior convictions in state court in April 2017, March 2022, and January 2023.
