Chatham sees strong winds, waves from Post Tropical Storm Lee

CHATHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — With Lee hitting the coast of New England, many towns like Chatham on Cape Cod experienced post tropical storm effects.

The large waves and high winds drew crowds of people to the shore by the Chatham lighthouse.

“The wind last night was a little much,” Harwich resident Doug Adams said. “This is a rare event in terms of the tropical nature of it. We see plenty of nor’easters but his is a semi unique event.”

The storm did not leave as much damage as some expected.

“The storm never turned west so it has just been a wind event,” Chatham resident Ed McCarty said. “The rain was not as significant as I thought it might be.”

He added that the event wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for the area.

“I think it is kind of uneventful,” McCarty said. “Electricity never went out and this is pretty much what we get here every fall.”
