Boston Salads and Provisions Company, Inc., has recalled about 222,959 pounds of its ready-to-eat chicken salad products because of a possible listeria contamination.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall Thursday. The products were produced between August 23 and October 14 of 2013 and shipped to wholesalers for distribution in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The products under the recall include:

Sell by dates range from “9/13/2013” through “11/4/2013”, and the USDA inspection mark may read “P-17999”.
The firm's investigation has identified a possible source of the contamination, but the FSIS is continuing to work with federal and state public health partners, including the U.S. Health and Human Services' Food and Drug Administration and the MADPH and NHDPH.
Consuming listeria-contaminated food can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. No illnesses have been reported so far.
