Chief medical examiner resigns from RI Department of Health
By News Staff
The Chief Medical Examiner in Rhode Island has resigned after being placed on administrative leave.
An official tells ABC6 that Dr. Christina Stanley resigned effective August 5. No reason for her resignation was explained.
Back on July 22, Dr. Stanley was placed on paid administrative leave.
We were told the Department of Health's new Director, Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, had made some changes when restructuring the department.
The Medical Examiner's Office National Accreditation was downgraded after an April inspection found issues in turnaround time and staffing.
Officials would not comment on whether Stanley's leave and resignation is related to those problems.
