WASHINGTON D.C. (WLNE) — Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI) is supporting a bill that would increase the number of Supreme Court Justices from nine to 13.

Cicilline is now one of 55 co-sponsors for the bill, named, the Judiciary Act of 2021.

The Congressman added his name to the measure May 10, which comes after the Supreme Court leak indicating that Roe vs. Wade would be overturned.

“Americans’ faith in the Court is at an all-time low and we need to do all we can to restore it,” said Cicilline.

“The Judiciary Act would also help meet the increased workload of the court, and institute a bench that reflects the 13 circuits — a practical solution to increase efficiency and promote justice,” he added.

The bill, which was introduced in April of 2021, has not yet been heard and has no Republican co-sponsors.
