Circus Performer Injured in Accident

A performer at the Cole Brothers Circus, currently putting on shows at Newport Grand, was injured Friday night during a performance.

Newport Police say the circus's “human cannonball” performer was injured after he apparently bounced off or fell out of the safety net he was launched into and hit the ground.   Police report that he was taken to Newport Hospital by Fire Department personnel with a non-life-threatening head injury.  He remains there under observation.
