Newport to open overnight warming center ahead of this weekend’s severe weather

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — Ahead of this weekend’s severely cold weather, the city of Newport will open an emergency overnight warming center on Thursday.

The city’s Emergency Management team will open the warming center at the Newport Maritime Center.

The address of the building in 365 Thames St. The warming center is located in the lower level of the Armory building.

The Newport Maritime Center will be open overnight Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The hours of operation will be as follows:

  • Thursday, Feb. 2 from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Friday, Feb. 3 from 7 p.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 4 from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.

The following stations will be accessible during the daytime:

  • Newport Public Library
  • The Florence Gray Community Center
  • The Edward King House
  • Donovan Manor
