BOSTON, MASS (WLNE) – The United States Coast Guard is looking for two men who left Jamestown, R.I. on a sailboat, along with a dog, and were headed to Miami.

According to the Coast Guard, 40-year-old Ryan Hollis left Jamestown, R.I. on October 23rd on route to Norfolk, Virginia on his 43-ft Benneteau sailing boat “Carol K”.

At first, it was reported that Hollis was alone. Pictures on Facebook showed another man, Joshua Kane Cairone, 39, and a dog on board. The Coast Guard checked cellphone forensics of Kane, which confirmed he was with Hollis.

The Coast Guard said Hollis was supposed to arrive in Norfolk, Virginia on Friday and contact his girlfriend. Hollis’ girlfriend never heard from him, which is why she contacted the Coast Guard.

According to Hollis’ mother, he lived fulltime on his sailboard. He was on his way to Miami because he just accepted a new job. He also planned on staying 60 miles off the shore. She told ABC6 News she is staying positive and believes there is a chance he went off route and is out of range.
