College Planning Center opens in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Student Loan Authority’s new College Planning Center officially opened on Monday.
Sens. Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Rep. Seth Magaziner joined Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins and local leaders in a grand opening ceremony.
The center is a, “free service dedicated to helping students gain equal access to higher education,” according to Charles Kelley, RISLA executive director.
The center is located at 1000 Chapel View Blvd. — suite 132 — in Cranston.
Families and students can visit the center as a way to make college planning easier.
“Each year, the CPC helps thousands of students and families plan for attending and paying for college,” Kelley said. “We provide such essential services as hands-on assistance with applying for financial aid, help with resumes and college essays, and tips on how to complete the all-important FAFSA application, which unlocks federal aid.”
