Commissioner Infante-Green addresses alleged personal attacks

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – An emotional address from Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green on Thursday night during a school board meeting, saying she’s recently been the target of hateful comments.

The discussion was originally centered around Providence Schools, and then it took a dramatic detour when Commissioner Infante-Green addressed the room.

She confronted what is being called “racists attacks” against her.

The commissioner diverted from her prepared remarks to talk about the latest allegations, saying she received a number of calls from Latino parents, saying how much disrespect she has received.

The perpetrators are being described as “people in leadership”

Infante-Green even seemed to accuse former teachers of being involved in some of the personal attacks, saying “these are the same people that teach our kids”.
