The Department of Environmental Management has confirmed that a Connecticut man has been killed after a boat crash off Napatree Point in Westerly.

The Coast Guard says a 60-foot Viking yacht and a 25-foot Parker outboard boat crashed just after 10 a.m Tuesday. The smaller boat capsized, fatally injuring its operator, whose body was recovered from the water. He has been identified as Walter S. Krupinski, age 81, of Stonington, CT.

Officials from Westerly Police, the U.S. Coast Guard, RI DEM, and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, are investigating the cause.
