‘Consequences’ for 207 Hope Students Identified in Walk Out

Providence Public Schools say they have confirmed the identities of over 200 students who participated in the Hope High walkout, and consequences are pending. Below is a letter from Providence Schools on the course of action…
Administrators have identified, through several means of verification, 207 students who participated in the walk-out. The students violated several school and district policies by 1) leaving class without permission, 2) cutting class, and 3) leaving school grounds during school hours without permission. There will be consequences to address these violations, in accordance with the District's Student Code of Conduct. The school will be mailing letters to parents this afternoon describing those consequences, but will decline to release specifics to the media until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, once parents are anticipated to have received the letter.
