Construction begins for Gateway Project at Roger Williams Park

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday for construction on the new Roger Williams Park Gateway in Providence.

Mayor Jorge Elorza said that the new entrance on Broad Street will be a bright and inviting new development aimed at bringing more people to Roger Williams Park.

The new entrance will expand on the current visitors’ center adding restrooms, green areas, and spaces for outdoor events.

“This park will be the crown jewel in the emerald necklace of Providence parks,” Mayor Elorza said.

Construction on the project is set to wrap up in Spring of 2022.
